If you need a change, come to Alpacas of Peaceful Glen and experience the alpaca lifestyle. As soon as you arrive you will feel the peace and tranquility of these wonderful animals. Alpacas are very easy to raise and require a small acreage per animal.
Be prepared to "fall in alpaca love" as you walk around the various paddocks or fields. Your heart will be captured by the big eyes with long eyelashes, their gentle way and their humming. You will not be able to resist being around them. Watch their joy as they pronk the pastures. Alpacas have no teeth on top in the front and do not bite. They have padded feet with two toenails which makes them easy on the pasture. They utilize community dung areas which makes clean-up very easy.
On our farm you will find both breeds of alpaca. The suri alpaca has fiber that appears to be in dreadlocks and is as close to silk as a mammal can produce. The huacaya alpaca has fiber that gives the alpaca a wooly/round appearance - the teddy bear look.
